The Final Four match-up was set between the Michigan State Spartans (3-1-1) and the RMU Colonials (5-1).
Michigan State got the scoring going early and continued their power attack throughout the period. Both teams exchanged penalties and the Colonials took advantage. Jeremiah Brosovic set the screen and Matthew Purdue fired it home on the power play to tie the game at one.Â
Michigan State would put home two quick goals to take a 3-1 lead midway through the second period. The Colonials quickly responded with a goal from Jarrett Tomazich on the power play.Â
Michigan State pushed back and scored two more goals including a late power play game to advance to the National Championship game.Â
Back-to-back seasons the Colonials have made it to the Final Four, a hard task to do twice. An underdog team all season long they found a way to use it to their advantage.Â
Jarrett Tomazich, the lone senior, the captain, and the heart and soul of this team, had a remarkable career both as a goaltender and a defenseman. We thank him for everything he has done for this Colonial team and the efforts he will leave for years to come.Â
