Columbus, OH - The RMU Men's and Women's Club Bowling teams competed in the 4th Ohio Bowling Conference event held on Saturday January 20th.
The OBC is the largest collegiate bowling conference in the country and was created to provide schools in the Ohio area a way to compete at a high level with low costs. A new format was introduced with Varsity teams bowling 4 team games and 16 Baker games and JV teams bowling 4 team games and 10 Baker games. For this tournament, the men's and women's coaches selected two men's teams and one women's team to represent RMU, and the three teams each produced a good showing. The Men's Varsity team placed 2nd overall out of 17 teams, the Women's Varsity team finished 7th out of 16 teams, and the Men's JV team finished 6th out of 10.
Men's Varsity:
The Men's Varsity team finished strong overall with a 2nd place finish, and some individual players too found great success in the tournament. Senior Matthew Hanson finished in 2nd place in the men's division and was added to the All-Tournament Team. Junior James Meyer finished right behind in 3rd place, also joining the All-Tournament Team. The varsity team finished with an overall total score of 7,398 putting them only 40 pins behind the winners.
Women's Varsity:
The Women's Varsity team earned themselves a top 10 finish placing 7th with a team total of 6,167. Junior Meghan Schwab led the team finishing 15th in the women's division and sophomore Grace Oklota finished closely behind placing 17th for the Colonials.
Men's JV:
Out of 10 teams, the Colonial's JV team came in 6th place with a total score of 5,258. Sophomore Tyler Larson placed 4th for the Colonials and earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team.
