Pittsburgh, PA – March 13, 2026 – Robert Morris University bowling standout Severo Gordon has officially earned a spot in the upcoming USBC Intercollegiate Singles Championships, marking a major milestone in his collegiate career.

Gordon, a sophomore business administration major from Sherman's Dale, Pennsylvania, secured his qualification after placing second in the sectional qualifier tournament at AMF Mt. Lebanon Lanes on March 13th. The event featured 175 collegiate bowlers from around the country, making Gordon's performance particularly impressive. His ability to remain composed in high-pressure situations and deliver critical frames helped solidify his place among the nation's top collegiate bowlers.

The last time a Robert Morris University collegiate bowler qualified for the national championship tournament was in 2007, when Tim Pfeiffer (Class of 2009) captured the national title. Gordon now hopes to bring the national trophy back to RMU after a 19-year drought.

Head coach David Adams praised Gordon's achievement and the dedication behind it.

"This is a tremendous accomplishment for Severo," Adams said. "He has put in countless hours of work on and off the lanes. His focus, discipline, and competitive drive have been outstanding all season, and qualifying for the national tournament is a reflection of that commitment."

Program director John Michalenko also emphasized the significance of Gordon's performance.

"What makes Severo special is his consistency and mental toughness," Michalenko said. "At many tournaments this year, Severo bowled in the anchor position. He has stepped up in big moments, and we're excited to see him represent Robert Morris on the national stage."

The USBC Intercollegiate Team and Singles Championships will take place April 13–18 in Green Bay, Wisconsin, bringing together the top collegiate bowlers from across the country to compete for a national title. The entire Club Sports Department is proud of Severo for his continued success and the commitment he has shown representing the university.
