Roller Hockey Nationals Run Ends in Final Four

Colonials couldn't pull out the win vs UMass, finish the Nationals tournament 6-1

The Final Four Matchup between two divisional rivals in the RMU Colonials versus the University of Massachusetts Minutemen. The winner moving on the play for the NCRHA National Championship.

UMass got things started early as Collin Cooke broke the deadlock 57 seconds in. Just about 6 minutes later, Brennan McAuley finished off a nice play for UMass and suddenly they were up by 2. The score would remain in their favor for the remainder of the first period.

RMU and UMass continued the back and forth play but no one could strike gold. The Minutemen took 2 penalties in a back to back span but the Colonials weren't able to capitalize. Tanner Foley did get one for the Colonials after he picked up a loose rebound off a Giovanni Palombo shot and the Colonials now had some life.

It only took a minute and thirty seconds for RMU to tie the game in period three thanks to Giovanni Palombo. Palombo netted another one moments later and RMU took their first lead of the game. The Minutemen battled back and tied it up from Noah Sargent. Owen Gallagher would break the tie and add 2 more to seal the deal for UMass as they would take this one 6-3.

Despite the loss, the Colonials end their journey at NCRHA Nationals 6-1, putting together a valiant effort in their playoff endeavors. We would like to thank all 4 seniors, Shane Yobbi, Ben Schwartzmiller, Roman Kraemer, and Camron Smith, for their contributions to this team and the best of luck in whatever comes next for them.
