For many kids, the dream one day is to wear the colors of their country on the biggest stage and for RMU Club Hockey Forward Roman Kraemer, it is about to come true. Roman has been selected to represent ACHA Team USA at the World Cup of University Hockey this April in Carta, Romania. Roman will be one one of twenty-three members of the ACHA to represent the United States in hopes to bring home the gold.

Roman Kraemer's long hockey history begins with playing high school hockey for Serra Catholic before making the jump to the U18 Pittsburgh Penguins Elite team where he dominated with 121 points in 93 games. After his historic season, he joined the NAHL Johnstown Tomahawks where he played for 3 seasons along with a stint in the USHL's Youngstown Phantoms. Entering the 2019-20 season, Kraemer joined the NCAA Colonials for 2 seasons of play before the eventual folding of the team after the 2020-21 season. As many players elected to transfer to different universities, he elected to stay at RMU and join the D1 ACHA Club Team where he immediately made an impact. Kraemer finished his first season 4th in total league points with 63 and 8th in goals with 31 along with earning RMU Male Club Sports Athlete of the Year for 21-22. This season has been more of the same as Roman broke those records from last season, as he finished with 69 points (Tied for 3rd best league wide) and 33 goals (3rd best league wide) with 13 of those coming on the powerplay (4th best in the ACHA).  He also carries a Top 5 point per game average with a 2.23 amongst his 31 games played.

For Kraemer, the long hockey journey he has had thus far has prepared him for the biggest stage. He took a chance staying at home and joining the club team to finish his degree while still playing the game he loves at a dominant level. He has built the brand of club hockey amongst the peers of RMU and beyond with his SportsCenter Top 10 goals, flashy moves, and dominating play. Now, he has made history again being the first Colonial to ever make the tournament. Congratulations to Roman and bring home the gold!

You can watch Roman and the whole tournament live April 14th through the 19th at a link to be released later through achahockey.org
