ACHA Men’s Division I Hockey 2025-2026 Season Recap

3/23/2026 5:42:00 PM

The 2025-26 Robert Morris University (RMU) club hockey season was defined by significant individual milestones, high-stakes comeback victories, and a strong commitment to community service through charitable events.

The RMU ACHA Division I team faced a difficult start to their campaign. They opened the season in September with a physical two-game home series against Canisius, losing both contests 7-3 and 1-0. The struggles continued the following weekend as the Colonials were shut out 5-0 by Lawrence Tech. Despite these early setbacks, the team showed flashes of offensive potential and defensive grit that would serve as a foundation for the months to follow. The Colonials found their rhythm in late October and November, sparked by key conference wins and veteran leadership.

One of the most memorable nights of the season occurred on January 16, 2026, during the annual Charity Night benefiting the Mario Lemieux Foundation. Playing in special 90s-gradient jerseys, the Colonials staged a massive comeback against Syracuse University. After trailing 3-0 and later 4-1, RMU scored four unanswered goals in the third period, including two from #19 Devin Rohrich, to force overtime. The Colonials ultimately won 5-4 in a shootout, with Rohrich scoring the decisive goal.

As the season drew to a close in February and March, the program honored its Class of 2026 seniors: #4 Andrew Finnegan, #11 Trevor Kohlberg, #14 Corbin Ragno, Tony Kier, Devin Deon, and #18 Connor Moran. The season concluded in the CHMA Playoffs against West Virginia University. Although the Colonials jumped out to an early 2–0 lead with goals from Finnegan and Ragno, the Mountaineers rallied late in the third period to pull away for a victory, ending RMU's postseason run. Despite the playoff exit, the season was characterized by the team's resilience and offensive potential.
