Colonials go 1-1 against two tough opponents to open 2022 Nationals

Game 1:
Robert Morris faced off against Farmingdale in the first round robin game of the tournament. The Colonials starting unit started out hot, scoring just under a minute in the game. Vince Passante put one home at the 0:35 mark assisted by Roman Kraemer and Gio Palombo. Vince Passante wasn't done though as he struck again at the 6:59 mark off a beautiful passing play from Cameron Brickett and Gio Palombo. Farmingdale struck back almost immediately off a shot from Matthew Budnigton and then again by Matthew Ferrari. The period ended tied 2-2. 

To start period two, Gio Palombo scored just 21 seconds in! Roman Kraemer followed it up later on to make it 4-2. Farmingdales Matthew Budnigton scored again for his 2nd of the game to cut the lead to 4-3. Roman Kraemer came out on fire for his 2nd and 3rd goals of the game thanks to beautiful feeds from Palombo to start period number 3.  Budnigton scored again for his own hat trick to cut the Colonials lead to 7-4. Vince Passante closed the deal to secure a hat trick and the win as the Colonials defeated Farmingdale 8-4. 

Game 2:
The second match of the game featured the highly skilled offense of Slippery Rock. They opened the scoring off a Josh Hirst goal to make it 1-0. Robert Morris strikes back off the stick of Roman Kraemer for his 5th goal of the tournament to tie things up. Ian Edwards and Josh Hirst add on to make it 3-1 to end the 1st period.

 Kraemer strikes again to make things a little closer until Edwards grabs his 2nd of the game to end period two up 4-2. Vince Passante started the 3rd with an early goal to make it a one goal game. Ian Edwards put home 2 more along with Josh Hirst and Matt Yrankovich as the 3rd period winded down. 

Roman Kraemer got one more for the Colonials for his 7th of the tournament and 3rd of the game. The Colonials fell to Slippery Rock by a score of 8-4. Next up they have Cal Poly at 3:15 tomorrow for the final round robin game of the tournament.
