The Robert Morris squad (2-1-0 in Pool Play) faced the Michigan State Spartans (3-0-0 in Pool Play) in the Elite Eight matchup for the Division 2 National Championship. Michigan State came out early striking just 27 seconds into the game off the stick of Grant Burkhard. A tightly contested matchup between the two through the first period. A Cameron Brickett tripping penalty sent the Spartans on the power play and they capitalized off Grant Burkhead for his 2nd of the game.

The Colonials struck in period two off a Roman Kraemer snipe on a 2 on 1 to make it a one score game. The Spartans on the powerplay again, made it 3-1 off an Andrew Deeter goal.

Going into the 3rd down 3-1, Kraemer and Palombo set up a beautiful passing play to each other and Palombo found the back of the net to make it 3-2. Michigan State found themselves a break within the Colonial pressure and Burkhard got his 3rd of the game to make it 4-2. The Colonials would fall in this one.

To the two seniors, Connor McCabe and Vinny Passante, who provided the leadership and lockdown defensive abilities, the team thanks you. They provided what it truly meant to be Colonials, giving it their all every shift.
