RMU Roller Hockey qualifies for NCRHA Championships!

Finishing runner-up in the ECRHA Championships enough to qualify Colonials for 6th ever Nationals appearance

The RMU Tier I club roller hockey team played in the ECRHA (Eastern Collegiate Roller Hockey Association) playoffs in Feasterville, PA (March 5 and 6th). RMU opened their playoffs against Northeastern and dominated in an 11-3 rout. Roman Kraemer netted 5 goals, Gio Palombo had 2 of his own, and Connor McCabe, Cam Brickett, Ben Schwartzmiller, and Tanner Foley each helped in the goal scoring frenzy. Freshman defender Noah Smida added himself 2 assists tying himself for the team lead in that category. Netminder Jarrett Tomazich played lights out stopping 21 of 24 total shots.

RMU moved on to Round 2 to take on the University of Massachusetts Minutemen in a rematch of the 2020 ECRHA Championship game. A back and forth game between the two ends up with the Colonials on top 8-6 after a huge third period comeback! Roman Kraemer once again dominated, having 6 goals and 2 assists on the night. Gio Palombo also had a goal and an assist along with Jeremiah Brosovic who put a tally next to his name on the scoresheet as well. The Colonials were headed to the finals!

Northeastern came back in the losers bracket side of the playoffs and set up a rematch with the Colonials. This time Northeastern was victorious by a score of 5-3. Vince Passante finished with a goal and an assist leading his team. Tanner Foley and Roman Kraemer each scored a goal as well. Despite the loss, the Colonials will be heading to the NCRHA Championships in Kalamazoo, Michigan, April 6-10 in hopes of a redemption tour. This is the 6th time in program history the Colonials will be attending the NCRHA Championships
