Moon, PA- The Colonials D1 Club Hockey Team hit the 20 win mark for the first time since 2015 over the weekend with two victories over Villanova. RMU was in control of their own destiny most of the weekend, outscoring the Wildcats 11-3 between the two games. They took the first game by a score of 4-1 on Friday, and followed it up with a big 7-2 victory on Saturday. The win on Saturday is their 20th, putting their record on the season at 20-8-1. They have more than guaranteed a spot in the CHMA playoffs at the end of next month.

Game 1: RMU wins 4-1

The Colonials wasted little time taking the early advantage in this one. Trevor Kleckner took the early advantage with powering toward the net off the right side. He fired it past the Villanova netminder to give RMU the early 1-0 lead. Here's Austin McLean's call of the RMU opening goal:

RMU would cough up the lead and allow Villanova to make it 1-1, but the Colonials would still lead at the intermission. Steven Ralston scored for RMU late in the first to give the team a 2-1 lead at the break. Zach Gielrowski found the back of the net on the powerplay to make it 3-1 for RMU. The final RMU goal also came in the 2nd period, when defenseman Andrew Hachmeister found himself in tight and buried to give the Colonials the now three goal lead. Lewis Richardson got the start for RMU and looked sharp all evening.

Game 2: RMU wins 7-2

Robert Morris led this game 3-0 at the end of the first thanks to a number of offensive contributors. It started with a beautiful shot from Justin Adamski at the top of the right circle. He went bar down with the shot and gave RMU a 1-0 lead. Here's Adamski's snipe to start the game:

Noah Raymundo doubled up for the Colonials with a goal of his own midway through the first to make it 2-0, and then Joey Zottola continued to add to his strong offensive output from the season with a goal to conclude the period.

Tyler Draper scored the Colonials lone goal in the second period, on an offspeed shot from the slot the goalie wasn't expecting. The puck found its way home low glove side and it was 4-0 Colonials. Villanova would get one back in the second period, but the teams would enter the final period of play 4-1.

In the final period of play, the Colonials fired off three straight early goals to seal the game. All within a minute of play (1:03-1:57), Trevor Kleckner, Tyler Draper, and Nathan Mickey all scored for Robert Morris to effectively put the game on ice. With the 7-1 lead, the Colonials went back to focusing on playing strong defense and maintaining the lead. Villanova would get one back but no more as RMU wins 7-2. Goaltender Christian Pellegrino made his 3rd start of the season, and picked up his 3rd win stopping 36 of 38 shots.
