Moon, PA- The Women's Club Soccer team dropped their second match of the season against Duquesne by a score of 2-1.
Madeline Hansmann scored the RMU's goal, her first of the season. RMU fell behind quick by allowing Duquesne to score twice in the first half. Down 2-0 after 45 minutes, the team regrouped at the half. The Colonials brought a lot more energy and fire in the second half. They forced Duquesne into mistakes that created opportunities for RMU. This was the case around the 60th minute, when the Colonials were awarded a free kick. Hansmann took the free kick, which ricocheted off a defender and into the back of the net. RMU cut the lead in half with plenty of time left, they just could not get another shot to go.
The Women's Club Soccer falls to 0-2 on the season, but there's still reasons for optimism. The Colonials have scored in both losses, showing offensively they know how to convert on chances. Additionally, their next game is their final home match. This allows for one more game with the home field edge before they end the season with three straight matches on the road. Their next match is against Carnegie Mellon on September 29th at noon.
