RMU Division I ACHA Club Hockey Enters 2019-20 Season with High Expectations

The Defending CHMA Champions Look to Repeat

RMU ACHA Hockey Preview
The RMU Colonials Division 1 ACHA team enters the 2019-2020 season coming off an exciting finish in 2018-19. The team capped an improbable run to the CHMA championship with an 8-7 overtime win over Slippery Rock University. The victory earned them an automatic bid to the ACHA national championship tournament in Dallas TX, where they faced off against nationally ranked UNLV in the first round. The Colonials dropped a tightly contested game against the Running Rebels 4-3 ending their season on an encouraging note. RMU returns the core of their conference championship team in 2019-2020 with notable returners including defenseman Andrew Hachmeister, who earned first team all conference honors last season and forward Nathan Mickey who captured CHMA Rookie of the Year and second team all conference honors last season. Our Division 1 team will also be aided by a deep and strong recruiting class and facility upgrades in the form of a renovated locker room at our Island Sports Center.

The Colonials open up their season with a September 20th visit to Erie, PA to take on conference rival Mercyhurst University.  Pittsburgh Hockey Digest recently did a preview of the 2019-2020 CHMA and cited the Colonials January 10th and February 22nd rematches with Slippery Rock University among the top match ups to watch this season.
