Feasterville, PA- The Colonials Roller Hockey team picked up another positive weekend with a 2-1 record at the Feasterville regular season event for the ECRHA. RMU started off against one of the divisions top teams in Northeastern and won handily in a 7-2 victory. RMU had to follow it up with one of the division's other strongest teams in UMass. It was a close game, but the Colonials couldn't pull out the victory and lost 5-4. Finally, they defeated Rowan 12-8.
Game 1: RMU wins 7-2 over Northeastern
If this game had to be described with one name, it would be Jack Clendaniel. He was all over the scoresheet in this one, recording 4 goals and 2 assists for 6 points in the game. Ironically enough, the lone goal for the Colonials he was not a part of was the first one. Connor McCabe scored unassisted to open the scoring in the game.
Defenseman Vince Passante and forward Cameron Zahn scored the other two Colonial goals in the game. Starting Goaltender TJ Caton recorded 18 saves in the victory.
Game 2: RMU loses 5-4 to UMass
RMU heavily outshot the Minutemen 40-16, but could not get enough shots to go. It was a wild back and forth first period, in which the teams scored 3 times each. Jesse Zahn scored twice in the loss, but was not enough to power RMU to the win.
The other multi point performer was Cameron Zahn, who recorded 3 assists in the game.
Game 3: RMU wins 12-8 over Rowan
The offensive explosion for the team resulted in strong offensive games for many of the Colonials' players. RMU had 3 players with 4 points and 3 players with 3 points. Zach Bolotsky (2 G, 2 A, 4 P), Jarrett Tomazich (1 G, 3 A, 4 P,), and Jesse Zahn (2 G, 2 A, 4 P) were the major offensive contributors for the squad.
Sean Lawrence (2 G, 1 A, 3 P), Cameron Zahn (2 G, 1 A, 3 P), and Vince Passante (1 G, 2 A) were the 3 point performers.
The team now finds themselves at 7-2, and in a prime position to contend for the first place spot in the conference. With 14 points in the standings, they sit 3rd in the conference but have games in hand on the two teams ahead of them.
RMU resumes play once they return for the spring semester.
