For the second year in a row, the Tier II Roller Hockey Team has won the championship. In a best of three game series against Duquesne, the Colonials only needed two games. With 6-4 and 10-6 victories, RMU has once again brought home the hardware and are now back-to-back champions.Â
Â
Game 1 was highlighted by a Parker Rutherford hat-trick. Ross LoCastro added two goals of his own, and the final contribution of Game 1 came from Connor Borsh. This game was tied up entering the third period, but the Colonials pulled away and advanced to 1-0 in the series. Sean Mullen also had a great game in goal for RMU.
Â
The Colonials earned a 10-6 victory in Game 2, which ultimately led them to a series win and another championship. Parker Rutherford stayed red-hot, scoring four goals in this one. The rest of the goal-scoring was quite evenly spread, with goals from Josh Yurko, Caleb Morgan, Connor Borsh, Ross LoCastro, and Tyler Weekley.Â
Â
With this being the final game of the season, we would like to congratulate all the graduating seniors of the team. To Ross LoCastro, Sean Mullen, Parker Rutherford, Sydney Spuzzillo, Caleb Morgan, Alex Savisky, and Michael Hays – we wish you all the best!Â
