Coming off a tough loss to the Mercyhurst Lakers the night prior, the RMU D2 Women's Colonials squad looked for revenge against the divisional foe in the University of Pittsburgh. The Lady Panthers defeated the Colonials in the inaugural puck drop by a score of 7-1.

The Colonials came out flying in period number 1, as two way defender Danielle Karol broke the deadlock with her 7th of the season. Defender Amara Marresse followed Karol's lead minutes later for her 4th of the season assisted by Karol and Assistant Captain Madysen Myers. The score would stay 2-0 through the remainder of period 1.

The Panthers looked for revenge early and put one home off the stick of Anya Benedict, her 10th of the season to cut the lead in half. Minutes later, Mikayla Bittner continued her hot streak putting in her 4th of the season assisted once again by Myers to lead by 2.

Rebecca Shook would close it out for the Colonials in period 3 with her 3rd of the season assisted by newcomer Maddie Sauro and linemate Erin Secillia. The Colonials came out on top with a commanding 4-1 victory over the former champions. Mackenzie Walkowiak had a monster day stopping 24 of 25 shots in this one. The Colonials now improve to 2-1 since the calendar flip to 2023.
