The Robert Morris University (RMU) ACHA Division II women's hockey team concluded its 2025-26 regular season with a record of 2 wins and 6 losses, totaling 4 points. Throughout the season, the Colonials scored 13 goals while facing a tough defensive challenge, allowing 28 goals. While the scoreboard didn't always reflect the team's effort, the season was defined by hard work and dedication, honoring of seniors, and a clear vision for the program's future.
A notable moment in the latter half of the season occurred on Valentine's Day 2026, when the Colonials hosted RIT at the RMU Island Sports Center. Although the Tigers secured a 5-1 victory, RMU demonstrated resilience. #24 Hayley Whittaker found the back of the net in the first period, assisted by Maddie Berg, showcasing the offensive connection the team worked to build throughout the year. As the team competed on the ice, leadership also focused on the program's longevity. In January 2026, RMU announced the signing of recruits for the future. Freshman #10 Lilly Clifford came out as the top goal scorer of the season. The heart of the season was the celebration of the senior class: #8 Bri Medved, #21 Erin Secilia, #24 Hayley Whittaker, and #30 Mackenzie Walkowiak, featuring players who have been instrumental to the program for four years.
As seniors prepare to transition into professional fields, they leave a message of perseverance for underclassmen. The departing players urged their teammates to "push yourself and each other to grow as both players and people" and to cherish the journey. With a fresh class of recruits set to join the "Colonial family," the program looks to build upon the resilience shown this season.
