MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Robert Morris University's Women's ACHA Division II Ice Hockey program has officially announced the appointment of William Miller as its new Head Coach. Miller, who has spent the past season serving as an assistant coach within the program, steps into the head leadership role bringing over fifteen years of deep-rooted local hockey coaching experience.

A Philosophy Centered on Growth and Positivity
Miller takes the helm with a coaching philosophy deeply rooted in player development, confidence, and enjoyment.

"My coaching philosophy is to make it fun for kids and young adults," Miller noted. "I think creating a positive experience for the player helps give them confidence in playing hockey and builds essential life skills. If you create an environment that is fun and positive, people will get involved on and off the ice."

This player-first approach, combined with his high-level USA Hockey Level 4 Certification, positions him perfectly to elevate the RMU program and foster a strong culture of success and community.

A Proven Track Record in Western Pennsylvania Hockey
Miller's extensive coaching resume spans across various competitive tiers in Western Pennsylvania since 2009:
  • Robert Morris University: Served as the Assistant Coach for the RMU program, establishing familiarity with the collegiate club landscape.

  • Keystone State Games: Since 2015, Miller has served as the West Regional Ice Hockey Coordinator, organizing and scheduling tryouts and managing five separate regional teams (12U through 19U, including the 19U female team) for the annual summer tournament.

  • High School & Middle School Programs: Recently served as an assistant coach for both the Mt. Lebanon High School JV2 and Middle School MS2 teams, and previously served as the Head Coach for Bethel Park High School's JV2 team.

  • Arctic Foxes Youth Hockey Organization: Spent over a decade in various head and assistant coaching capacities ranging from 10U to 18U, notably leading the 16U A Minor team to a Playoff Championship.

  • RMU Inhouse Hockey: Early coaching roots include managing developmental teams at the 8U, 10U, and 12U levels.

Professional Leadership
Beyond the rink, Miller is a graduate of Duquesne University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He brings over two decades of corporate leadership experience from his career at ADP, where he serves as an Implementation Tech Lead. In his professional role, he specializes in technical troubleshooting and mentoring new consultants—skills in mentorship, problem-solving, and communication that seamlessly translate to bench management and player relations.

With a profound understanding of the local hockey pipeline and a proven commitment to creating a supportive, high-energy environment, Miller is primed to lead the RMU Women's ACHA Division II team into an exciting and competitive new era.

The entire club sports department is thrilled to welcome Miller into this new role and looks forward to seeing his commitment to the Women's Club Ice Hockey Program grow even more!
