Moon, PA- The Men's Club Soccer team opened their season with a bang over the weekend, with a doubleheader against IUP and Duquesne. In their opening match of the year they defeated IUP 3-0. With very little rest before their second matchup, RMU still pulled out a draw vs Duquesne 1-1.

The Colonials have shutout IUP in back to back games now, as RMU won 2-0 in their contest from 2019. But in this 3-0 win for RMU, it was highlighted by the offensive efforts of Striker Nick Catanzaro. The sophomore from Oakmont, PA recorded a hat trick, scoring each of the Colonials' goals in the victory. Additionally, Senior Goalkeeper Jeffery DeGrosky picked up his first clean sheet of the season.

In RMU's second match of the day against Duquesne, it was a much tighter matchup. The fatigue from playing earlier in the day certainly was a factor working against the Colonials. But once again, Catanzaro rose to the occasion for the Colonials. He scored his 4th of the season, and RMU's only goal of the game. 

Men's Club Soccer looks to keep the momentum going next weekend when they head downtown to play Pitt on the 26th.
