Kent, OH- The D3 Club Ice Hockey team had one game this weekend, a road match-up against Kent State University. The Colonials outgunned the Golden Flashes for a big 8-5 victory on the road. Robert Morris improves to 6-4-0-1 on the season, and 5-3-0-1 against conference opponents.

As has been the theme with the D3 Club this season, it was a game highlighted by high offensive output and a lot of time in the penalty box. The Colonials outshot Kent State 73-37, and penalty minutes fell as 30 PIM's for RMU and 28 for Kent State.

Kent State took the early advantage and controlled the game early. KSU scored twice in the opening six minutes. One of those two goals on the power play. RMU's lone goal of the first period came with just under 5 to play. Joseph Petti got himself back in the goal column with a power play goal to cut the deficit in half.

Kent State made it 3-1 early in the second, but the Colonials finally rattled off several straight goals. It began with a power play Camron Smith goal just over 13 minutes into the period to make it a 3-2 game. A mere 8 seconds later, Liam O'Neill tied the game. George Makricostas got the power play go ahead goal shortly before the period ended and RMU took a 4-3 lead into intermission.

Despite the 5 straight goals the Colonials were not out of the woods yet. The Golden Flashes finally answered back with two of their own and made it a 6-5 game with only 7 minutes to go.

Makricostas got his 2nd of the night and Blake Loges scored at 4 on 4 to seal the game for RMU with an 8-5 final score. Goaltender Russell Mower turned aside 32 shots on the evening.
