The Robert Morris University Division 3 men's ice hockey team faced off against Duquesne University on Saturday night at Clearview Arena, falling 4–1 in a hard-fought matchup.
Duquesne maintained offensive pressure from the opening puck drop, outshooting RMU 40–24 over three periods. The Dukes struck first midway through the first period at 10:10, taking an early 1–0 lead that held through intermission.
RMU's defense tightened in the second, with goaltending keeping the Colonials within reach despite Duquesne's sustained attack. The intensity picked up in the third, when Duquesne extended its lead with a goal at 10:16. The Colonials quickly answered just 2:11 later, as #23 Adam Sciorilli found the back of the net off an assist from #25 Austin Patnesky at 7:05, cutting the deficit to 2–1 and giving the home crowd renewed energy. However, Duquesne regained control late in the game, scoring again at 6:51 and sealing the win with a final goal at 1:57.
Tensions flared in the final minute, when a heated battle for the puck in the corner escalated into a fight just 56 seconds before the buzzer. Both teams clashed in a chaotic finish to an already physical contest. Despite the loss, RMU showed resilience and flashes of strong teamwork throughout the matchup. The Colonials will look to bounce back in their next game as they continue their D3 season at the RMU Island Sports Center.
