Moon, PA- National Collegiate Rugby has announced their 2020-2021 Scholastic All-Americans. This year, 41 women and 66 men were selected from NCR's 600+ member institutions to receive this prestigious award. The award honors students who maintained a 3.5 GPA or higher during the academic year and was a member of an A-Side 15s, 10s, or 7s match with their school's rugby program.

This year, RMU junior Madalyn Bashore was selected as one of the reward recipients. The rising senior has made valuable contributions on and off the pitch for the Women's Rugby team. Bashore will be looking to graduate this year with a business degree in Sport Management, and has been a member of the Women's Rugby team for three years. 

When asked how she felt about winning the award she was quoted saying:

"It is an honor to be recognized by National Collegiate Rugby for my academic performance, and I am grateful for the recognition of the hard work I have put in the classroom and on the pitch. This past year has been difficult, both academically and athletically, with the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic.  I am thankful RMU trusted their students enough to allow us to stay on campus half of the time and allow the rugby team to travel to play. I am so excited to get back on the pitch with my team this coming season and continue my education in the classroom." 

RMU would like to congratulate Madalyn Bashore for her commitment to academics and athletics. RMU Women's Rugby played a reduced schedule last season, but plans on returning to a full competition schedule for the 2021-2022 season.
