5 Rugby Players Honored by the ARU

Members of both the Men's and Women's Rugby Program received recognition for their hard work this season.

Moon, PA- The Men's Rugby program has made some waves this year and had four players named to the Allegheny Rugby Union's 2021 Men's Small College All-Conference Team. One of those players, Ryan Lowden-Stoole, was named one of two ARU's Men's Small College Player of the Year.

The Domers had more All-Conference players this year than any other school in the Men's Small College Division of the ARU. RMU had 2 Forwards and 2 Backs named this year including 3 seniors. For the forwards it was a pair of seniors starting with one of the Props, Brooks Morgan. Brooks is a senior Mechanical Engineering major from Livitz, PA. Also in the All-Conference Forwards was the senior Hooker, Curtis Pagley. Curtis is a senior Finance major from Beaver Falls, PA.

On the back end, the Domers first had the Scrumhalf, Timmy Bowser named to the All-Conference team. The only non-senior in the group, Timmy is a sophomore from Youngstown, Ohio. The final RMU player named was senior Ryan Lowden-Stoole. Originally from Harare, Zimbabwe, the senior Actuarial Science major was also named one of two ARU Men's Small College Player of the Year.

When asked about the award, Ryan said, "I'm delighted to receive this award. It is a great personal achievement after investing a lot of time into RMU Rugby over the last three years. This would not have been possible without my coaches and teammates who have given so much to the team this season".

Additionally, there's an honor on the Women's side. Senior Psychology major Briana Allen has been named to the Allegheny Rugby Union's Women's Collegiate 7's Select Side Roster. The Lancaster, PA native will join an all-star team of Women's Rugby players from the area will be traveling to Houston in January to compete against other regional teams in the National Collegiate Rugby's Women's 7's National Cup.

Between the two RMU teams, five players were honored in some kind of way from the ARU. RMU Campus Rec is extremely proud of them all for the hard work and dedication they put towards their sport. For Timmy who still has some time before he graduates, we look forward to you putting on the jersey again next season. For the soon to be graduating seniors of Brooks, Curtis, Ryan, and Briana we wish you good luck in whatever comes next following your time at RMU.
