Coraopolis, PA- RMU (now 5-4-1) had another 8-4 win, this time over La Roche (now 2-8-0). It was a slow start from both sides until La Roche notched their first roughly a quarter way into the first period. A few minutes later,
Sean Mullen scored off of a failed "Michigan" attempt (assisted by Ross Locastro). The puck rolled off of his stick when he tried to bring it around to the front of the net, but it bounced off of a La Roche defenseman and slid under the goalie to tie the game up at 1. Towards the end of the first,
Sean Mullen would score his second of the period (assisted by
Tyler Savisky) and RMU pulled ahead 2-1, but La Roche answered quickly to make the game 2-2 heading into the second period.
The second period was a wrestling match that resulted in an RMU tally from
Tyler Savisky along with a La Roche goal that would end the second period at 3-3. It was a tighter period defensively for both squads as they looked to keep their momentum going into the third period.
The first half of the third period was once again a tight contest until
Sean Mullen threw a pass up the slot and to the point for
Michael Hays who fired a blistering slapshot that went bardown over the blocker of the La Roche goaltender, giving RMU the 4-3 lead. This goal would open up the game as Ross Locastro scored off of an
Ethan Grant feed,
Tyler Savisky would get his second of the game after that,
Alex Savisky scored a few minutes later, and sometime in between those goals, La Roche would notch their 4th and final goal of the game. With 16 seconds left,
Alex Savisky and
Sean Mullen headed into the offensive zone with a 2-on-1 where
Sean Mullen would complete the hattrick with the assist from
Alex Savisky.
With the victory, Robert Morris improves to 5-4-1 and have won three in a row. They'll be looking to make it 4 in a row this upcoming week. RMU's next matchup is Wednesday, February 5th vs. Duquesne Schroeder (1-7-0)
