Moon, PA- It was a successful return to competition for the RMU League of Legends team with their match against the University of Akron. League of Legends Blue had their best of three series against Akron, and it went the distance. They needed all three games for a winner to be determined, but RMU won the series 2-1. The team also had a series against the Pennsylvania College of Technology. In that one, it also went to three games. However, RMU found themselves on the wrong side of the decision as they dropped the series 2-1.
Against Akron, the Colonials entered the match feeling confident they could pick up the win. And they were able to do so, but it was challenging. Senior
Jonathan Russell (said following the match, "It was a grueling series, but we won it by working together as a team".
All 5 of the starting players had strong performances in the series. However, they had to roll out a different 5 for their series later that day against the Pennsylvania College of Technology. A last second substitution made for a lineup that had little experience working with one another.
The different lineup meant communication was not as fluid in the second series as it had been against Akron. Pennsylvania College of Technology got out to the early lead in the series since the Colonials were trying to synergize on the fly. However, in Game 2 RMU fought back and looked real sharp. Monk (Josh Barone) picked up a huge penta in the middle of Game 2 to help power the RMU victory. However, RMU couldn't pull off another victory like they had the game prior and they dropped the series 2-1.
Next up on the schedule for League of Legends Blue is a match against Yale University.
