Moon, PA- The Colonials Roller Hockey second team had a rough night last night against Duquesne. The Colonials jumped out to a 3-0 lead on the visiting Dukes, but squandered the opportunity and ended up losing 4-3 (OT) in heartbreaking fashion. Tyler Savisky scored within the first minute for RMU to give the team an early 1-0 lead. Josh Zollars scored later on to double the Colonial lead. The team did an excellent job limiting Duquesne's chances in the first and had a 2-0 lead entering the 2nd period.

Hayden Schultz scored to make it 3-0 Robert Morris early in the 2nd period and the team looked to be performing excellently. However, that was when Duquesne finally woke up. They scored midway through the second to make it 3-1 after 2. Another midperiod goal for Duquesne in the 3rd made it 3-2. Then with a mere 11 seconds left in regulation, the Dukes scored with the goalie pulled to tie the game and force OT. In overtime, Robert Morris couldn't make a line change and that would ultimately would cost them as the OT winner was scored by the visitors.

It was a heartbreaking loss for the team, having such a strong lead early but not being able to sustain it. As it is referred to in many hockey circles, a 3 goal lead is the worst kind in hockey. This means a squad becomes overconfident when they get out to a multi-goal lead. It bit RMU this time around, but now that they have this experience there's no doubt the Colonials will never be overconfident again and will continue to push the whole game.
