10/14/2019 2:02:00 PM

Centerville, OH- This weekend at Poelking Lanes South, the Women's Bowling team had their first tournament of the season. Five rookies made their collegiate bowling debut along with the three returning members to field the eight woman roster. The two day event had it's ups and downs but ultimately there was a lot of encouraging takeaways from the Orange and Black Classic. The team finished 22nd out of 25 schools.

During a loud and hectic tournament, the Women's team preformed well considering for many it was their first true taste of college bowling. The high point for the team games was in Game 3, when the team put together a solid 763 team game. Between the team and baker games, the team's overall pinfall was 5,618.

During the team games, Cameron Nickel led the team in total pin fall with a 786, averaging a 157.2 per game. Two freshman also averaged over 150 for the Colonials. Tatiana Johnson and Madison Ferringer averaged 156.6 and a 151 respectively. Their series totals were 783 and 755 pins respectively. Both of them along with Cammy Nickel bowled in all 5 team games. The other 5 bowlers cycled through the remaining spots all day. Tailynne Cumberland bowled in 4 games, picking up a total of 503 pins.

There were 4 sets of 4 baker games the following day. The team's highest baker game was a 182. The team had entered the day 22nd, and did not move from the spot as they had built a several hundred pin advantage on 23rd. There was a lot to gain from this first tournament. From potential lineups moving forward, to who excels on fresh or burned out oil patterns it was a learning experience for everyone involved. The team's next event will be in 2 weeks time, as they travel to Canton, Michigan. That weekend will be host for the Colonials first two conference tournaments.
