Grove City, PA - This past weekend the RMU Men's Club Volleyball Team competed in a 20 team tournament at Grove City College. The Colonials fought hard and took 2nd place in the silver bracket.
RMU started off strong winning against IUP in pool play but unfortunately lost to Case Western and one of the three grove city alumni teams. The Colonials went on to beat a second Grove City alumni team in 3 sets. In a competitive 2 set match against the Grove City Red, their regular team split into 2, the second match ended with a final score of 25-11. After finding themselves in the championship match, RMU fell short losing to Franciscan in two sets.Â
The RMU outstanding player of the tournament was Senior and right side hitter Alonzo Mays. Throughout the day, Mays had a huge impact both hitting and blocking the ball for the Colonials. Overall the team performed well and look at this outing as a very successful tournament. Co-Captains Skyler Higgins and Ryan Filipcic are very happy with the team's performance as they grow one step closer and prepare for the regular season.Â
Stay tuned for some exciting match ups and tournament play in the spring semester!
