RMU iRacing Improves at the Red Bull Ring

Nick Patnella finishes P27, a new RMU Road Series Record

Moon, PA- The RMU iRacing team participated in their 2nd road series event of the year on Tuesday as they took on the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg. Nicholas Patnella was once again the team's only entrant for the road series, similar to two weeks prior at the Daytona Road Course. Patella went with a car change going into race two of the year, opting to switch from the Porsche he ran Daytona with to a Mclaren. When asked why Nick put it simply, "The game got a major update last week, and it nerfed the Porsche. However this Mclaren setup really grips the track well and it is really stable through the corners".

Patnella qualified 30th out of 39 cars for this race, and it didn't take long for trouble to find the #72 RMU machine. On the opening lap of the race, his Mclaren was hit from behind and sent into the car ahead of it in a brutal chain reaction. This early set back saw Nick spend most of the race off the lead lap once he came in from a tow to repair damages.

Despite the rough start, he fought his way back up through the field with quick corners through the middle sector of the track and clean racing of opponents. When the checkered flag waved, RMU finished P27. This is three spots ahead of where he qualified and was ten spots higher than where he was when he got towed initially back to pit road.

The race result bumped Nick into 24th overall in the league standings after two races. The next road series event will be on September 28th at 9pm, a race on the Hockenheimring. The next CiL event however will be September 21st at 9pm. It'll be an oval race at Texas Motor Speedway, and it'll be streamed on twitch.tv/collegiateiracingleague.
