P3R is an organization that prides itself on being the engine behind Pittsburgh's greatest races.  Best known for organizing the acclaimed annual DICK'S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon, P3R runs a variety of other high-quality races, events, and health and fitness programs throughout the Pittsburgh region. The organization has taken its first step into the collegiate ranks by becoming the official sponsor of Robert Morris University's newly formed Track and Cross Country Club.

Sophomore distance runner Tyler Slaney was one of the founders of the team along with classmate and middle distance runner Vincent Capozzolo, and Junior sprinter/jumper Jay Olu-Wehuje. According to Slaney, "We are hoping to foster a solid support system for everyone wishing to try running for the first time or further excel those with years of experience. We encourage anyone of any skill level to come out to our practices and give running a chance." Slaney cited P3R's support as pivotal to the team's foundation, "Our club team would not be this far developed if it was not for P3R's generosity and willingness to work with us."

In addition to financial support for the team, P3R has pledged some coaching sessions and team workout assistance as part of the partnership. "The founders of the club share P3R's mission to inspire any and all to run," said Troy Schooley, P3R CEO. "They are committed to encouraging runners of all levels to get involved with the sport, and we are thrilled to help them reach their goals."

The team begins its competition season on September 7th with the Bethany College Invitational. A link to the full press release from P3R can be found here.
