Payton Ernst serves as the Assistant Director of Competitive & Recreational Sports, where she leads the strategic oversight and day-to-day operations of the university’s dynamic club sports and intramural programs. In her role, Payton manages the daily functions of RMU’s 20+ competitive club sport teams, including athlete recruitment, coach and team support, and coordination of all practices, competitions, and travel logistics. She also plays a pivotal role in the university's campus wellness initiatives through her leadership within the Department of Campus Recreation. Payton directs all marketing and multimedia efforts for the club sports program. As the program’s primary content creator, she oversees the production of live streams, team features, and video podcasts, while also managing a team of student media and production staff.

Payton earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from RMU’s Rockwell School of Business in 2023, with dual concentrations in Sport Management and Marketing. She graduated cum laude, was inducted into the Alpha Mu Alpha Marketing Honor Society, and received the RMU Renaissance Award for her academic and extracurricular excellence. She completed her MBA at RMU in 2025. Since joining RMU professionally in 2023 as the Club Sports Recruitment and Multimedia Coordinator, Payton has contributed to the growth and visibility of the club sports program. In 2025, she transitioned into the Assistant Director role, bringing with her a deep understanding of sport administration, marketing, and student engagement.
