Jim Napoli

Jim is a USA Hockey Level 4 certified coach.  He lives in Franklin Park, PA with Karen, his wife of 40 years; both are graduates of Pitt (BSCE ’82) and Lifetime Alumni Club Members.  Jim is the father of 3 grown children, Rachel, Tim, and Becca.  Rachel and Becca both played youth girls hockey, and Becca went on to play 4 years of college hockey.

Jim has coached female ice hockey for over 14 years, holding both assistant and head coaching positions in the North Pittsburgh Wildcats organization at the U12, U14, and U19 levels.  He attended the USA Hockey Women’s National Camp at the 17-18 year old level as an Intern Coach in 2006, having the opportunity to work alongside many NCAA Division 1 Women’s team coaches, the USA Hockey Women’s National Team staff, and many future NCAA and US Olympic Team stars.  Jim was a founding board member and assistant coach of the Steel City Selects Girls Hockey Association whose tenure included a Mid-Am District Championship which earned the team a trip to the U19 USA Hockey Tier II Girls Nationals in 2012.  Jim coached the University of Pittsburgh W2 hockey team for three seasons, which included a CHE Playoff appearance and a #8 ACHA national ranking.  His coaching experience also extends to girls soccer and softball, including five years as Vice President of Softball for the Ingomar Franklin Park Athletic Association.

Jim was heavily involved in the development of Girls Ice Hockey in the Pittsburgh Area.  He is a certified Put the Biscuit in the Net Instructor and has held several PBN programs for the Girl Scouts.  He was a board member of the North Pittsburgh Wildcats as Director of Girls Hockey Development where he founded a Learn to Play Hockey for Girls program.  Jim is responsible for introducing hundreds of girls to the sport of hockey.
Jim is looking forward to bringing his experience coaching female athletes to the RMU D2 ACHA Hockey Team and building a solid program that will compete for ACHA National Championships.  “Throughout my ice hockey coaching and administrative career I have sought to expand opportunities for all female athletes to play ice hockey.  Establishing an ACHA Women’s Ice Hockey program at Robert Morris University provides an outstanding option for these athletes to continue to compete.
