The Robert Morris University ACHA Men's Division IV hockey team concluded its hard-fought season, characterized by explosive offensive performances, milestone debuts, and a deep postseason run that took them to the conference semifinals.
The season took a running start, showing fast momentum and defensive dominance. The Colonials opened their home schedule on October 4th, delivering a 10-0 shutout victory against California University (Cal U). This dominant performance saw #15 Owen Romano record a hat trick while goalies #1 Jimmy Capell and #35 Nathan MacBride combined for the clean sheet. The team was tested weeks later in a thrilling 5-5 overtime tie against Penn State Altoona, where #26 Joseph Pulleo netted the game-tying goal with just 14 seconds remaining in regulation.
Key Road Victories and Milestone Performances RMU proved they could win in challenging game environments, securing a 5-1 victory over Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) at Shady Side Academy, which featured the collegiate debut of freshman goaltender #35 Nathan MacBride. The Colonials continued their road success on November 8th with a 4-3 win over Penn State Altoona, a game that marked MacBride's first career win as he turned aside 34 shots. Other regular-season highlights included a high-scoring 7-5 home win against CMU in November and a massive 9-2 victory over Cal U, which featured #6 Noah Tennant's first career goal and the debut of goaltender #31 Nick Lesko.
Honoring the Class of 2026 On January 24th, the program celebrated Senior Night with a victory over CMU, honoring a veteran group that included #2 Connor Borsch, #3 Kris Connelly, #4 Zachary Connelly, #8 John-Wayne Kravitz, #10 Elijah Zeis-Miller, #13 Mitchel Quinn, #15 Owen Romano, #21 Chase Dawkin, and #27 Carter Bossong. The night was highlighted by Elijah Zeis-Miller completing a hat trick to seal the win, providing a perfect send-off for the seniors who had been integral to the team's championship culture.
Postseason Journey The Colonials' grit carried them into the CHE Playoff Semifinal on March 13th against West Virginia University. Despite an early power-play goal by #4 Zack Connelly to take a 1-0 lead, the Mountaineers proved to be a formidable opponent, eventually ending the Colonials' season with a 7-2 victory.
Legacy of the 2025-2026 Colonials Though the playoff run ended in the semifinals, the season was defined by teamwork and leadership. The graduating seniors leave behind a legacy of success, including multiple past championships and a commitment to the program that guided the team through a demanding schedule. As the Colonials look toward next year, they will build upon the foundation laid by this year's leadership and the emergence of talented underclassmen.
