The RMU Men's ACHA Division IV team saw its season come to an end Friday night in the CHE Playoff Semifinal against West Virginia University. The Colonials fought until the final minutes but ultimately fell to the Mountaineers in postseason action. RMU started #1 James Capell in net for the semifinal matchup. 

In the first period, the Colonials struck first midway through the opening period. At 9:20, #4 Zack Connelly scored on a power-play opportunity. Skating into the left faceoff dot as the puck slid toward him, Connelly fired a clean shot into the net to give RMU a 1-0 lead. West Virginia responded later in the period, tying the game at 5:54 before taking the lead with a power-play goal at 3:14 to end the period up 2-1.

In the second period, momentum shifted further in favor of WVU during the second period. The Mountaineers added two more goals at 14:54 and 8:34, extending their lead while RMU continued searching for offensive chances.

In the third period, WVU continued its push in the final frame, scoring at 10:29 and again at 10:02 to widen the gap. Despite the deficit, RMU kept battling late into the game. #18 Tim Williams found the back of the net with 1:16 remaining, giving the Colonials a late goal and closing the gap slightly. West Virginia sealed the win with an empty-net goal with just 7.2 seconds remaining.

Although the Colonials' playoff run ended in the semifinal round, the team showed resilience throughout a long and demanding season. The group battled through every period and competed until the final horn. As the program looks ahead to next season, RMU will take time to recover and regroup while honoring the graduating seniors who helped lead the team throughout the year. Their leadership and commitment played a key role in guiding the Colonials to the playoffs.
