RMU Club Hockey Annual Charity Night Game

ACHA Men's D1 Hockey Charity Game, Benefiting The Mario Lemieux Foundation

1/6/2026 12:00:00 PM

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — The Robert Morris University Men's ACHA Division 1 club hockey team is hosting a special charitable match up against Syracuse University on Friday, January 16, 2026. Puck drop is scheduled for 8:00 PM at the RMU Island Sports Center.

This year, the Colonials are partnering with the Mario Lemieux Foundation, an organization dedicated to raising funds for cancer research and patient care, as well as Austin's Playrooms for children and families in medical facilities. All proceeds from the evening's events will go directly toward supporting the Foundation's vital mission in the Pittsburgh region and beyond.

Event Highlights

Beyond the high-stakes action on the ice, fans will have several opportunities to contribute to the cause throughout the night:

  • Custom Jersey Auction: The Colonials will take the ice in exclusive, specialty-designed jerseys (pictured below) that will be auctioned off to fans.

  • Raffle Prizes: Win prizes by purchasing raffle tickets at the arena.

  • Chuck-a-Puck: A fan favorite, buy a puck for a chance to win during the intermission contest.

  • Game Tickets: Tickets are available for purchase at the door on the night of the event.

Founded in 1993 by hockey legend Mario Lemieux following his own battle with Hodgkin's disease, the Foundation has committed over $40 million to cancer research and patient care. Their work focuses on turning personal adversity into a "win" for others by funding innovative research at centers like the Mario Lemieux Center for Blood Cancers and the Immunotherapy Center at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center.

A cornerstone of the Foundation is Austin's Playrooms, an initiative started by Nathalie Lemieux. These playrooms provide safe, cheerful environments for children and families in medical facilities, allowing them to focus on healing during challenging times. To date, the Foundation has established 44 playrooms across the country, helping over 1.5 million families.

Join us for a night of competitive hockey and community spirit as we help the Mario Lemieux Foundation continue its "game-changing" impact on the lives of patients and families.
