As the hockey season reaches its end it's time to reflect on the club hockey players that will be graduating and moving on from the program. In total, these 22 players have contributed greatly to the success and development of RMU's prestigious club hockey program. Some may return next year in search of a master's or are winter graduates, but we will honor them all in this year's Seniors Spotlight:
Keith Reed: Baldwin (PA) graduate spent 4 seasons as a member of the Division 1 club team. Reed made an immediate impact the moment he stepped onto the ice as a freshman netting 11 goals and 17 points. As each year progressed, Reed saw his role continue to increase on the team and eventually earned himself the captaincy this season. Reed was used in all situations and became "Captain Clutch" after netting the OT winner vs Mercyhurst in the 2024 playoffs to send RMU to the semifinals. Reed only missed 1 game over the last 4 seasons riding one of the longest Ironman streaks in RMU history.
Tyler Draper: Cranberry (PA) native spent 6 years as part of the Division 1 club team. Draper's career could be seen as a Swiss Army knife on Coach Joseph's team, seeing time as a winger, center, and defenseman during his long career. He finished his career with 70+ points and was a huge net front presence on the powerplay where he did a lot of his damage. Earning an A on his sweater the past four seasons, Draper was also part of a great leadership group on and off the ice. Also a CHMA divisional champion, Draper's career as a Colonial has been nothing short of remarkable.
Robert Byrne: Massapequa (NY) native spent all 4 of his collegiate career with RMU after playing in the USPHL Elite and Premier divisions. Byrne was brought to the Colonials as a forward and in his freshman season tallied 2 goals and 4 points. The New York native saw that number climb the next season to 7 points but his junior year he would move back to defense full team due to injuries, and he stuck there. Byrne turned into a gritty two-way player that could fool you with his size and speed. Though he never netted another collegiate goal, he has helped his team keep pucks out of their own net while also driving plays up ice to his forwards.
Nathan Isaac: Mars (PA) native spent all 4 seasons of his collegiate career on the d1 club team. Isaac played in 25 games as a freshman tallying 2 assists. His sophomore season would be cut short due to injuries but he made his presence known early in his junior season tallying his first career goal on a wrap-around versus Canisius. Isaac saw a career-high in points his senior season with 7 and earned the A on his sweater. Never flashy but was always a reliable defenseman any coach would want on their team, exactly what Nate Isaac brought to the table.
Reno Patrick: Penn Trafford (PA) alum started his college career with the West Virginia Mountaineers before transferring to RMU in 2022-23. The young netminder learned behind Kevin Mackey and Parker Rutherford before the reins were tossed to him in 2023-24. Patrick proved why he was deserving of the opportunity going 7-5 with a 3.58 GAA and a 902 SV % including his first career shutout versus his old team. Patrick battled some adversity to start the 2024-25 season but his 2025 turnarounds showcased why he was one of the best in the CHMA. He had a 55+ save performance on multiple occasions leading his team to the playoffs after both other goalies went down with injuries. Goaltending will forever be one of the hardest positions in hockey but Patrick made it look easy.
Rebecca "Becky" Shook: Moon (PA) spent all three of her collegiate seasons with RMU. Shook was a threat on the ice at all times for opponents and was a huge leader for her squad. Becky was named an assistant captain and had a big part in leading the team to the playoffs. Shook had her career high in points and goals her junior season tallying 10 with 18 points. Shook also saw her name at the top of the penalty minutes charts finishing her career with 89. A true leader on and off the ice, Shook was a key contributor to the building of this franchise.
Mikayla Bittner: Pittsburgh (PA) used all three collegiate seasons with RMU. The forward's best offensive production came her first season with the team scoring 6 goals and 10 points. The nursing major produced at a half point per game pace this season with 3 goals and 5 points including a 2 goal game vs Slippery Rock. Bittner, one of the inaugural players of this RMU team was able to be part of a team to make the playoffs for the first time this season.
Danielle Karol: Canonsburg (PA) spent all three seasons with the d2 Colonials being one of the best offensive threats in franchise history. Throughout her career Karol tallied 29 goals and 48 points in just 43 games. Karol saw new highs in every major category this season leading the team with 12 goals and 20 points in only 17 games. She was used on both defense and offense due to the two way nature of her game. Karol will go down as one of the trendsetters of this club and a big reason why they made their first playoff appearance in 2024-25.
John Betz: South Park (PA) native started his collegiate career with the d1 club team having a goal and 4 points in 27 games. Betz then decided to move down to the d3 club level where he started to blossom. The power forward saw an offensive production increase as he scored 7 goals and 16 points and helped RMU make the playoffs. His junior season saw Betz put up double-digit goals for the first time in his college career and helped RMU get to the second round of the playoffs. Betz was named captain before his senior season and produced his first 20-point campaign on a line with Zach Blevins and Luke Rose. John Betz throughout his career had been a model player to follow on the ice, good on both ends, effective on special teams, and clutch when called upon.
Justin Newton: Glenshaw (PA) native spent all four seasons with the d3 Colonials and will go down as one of the best to ever lace them up for the program. Newton skated in 73 games over his RMU career tallying 29 goals and 61 points. The two way threat used his speed to make opponents pay and was a force to be reckoned with on special teams scoring 5 powerplay goals over his career. Newton's best offensive season came his junior season playing at a point per game pace with 10 goals and 21 points. After rejoining the team in mid October, the forward helped lead RMU back to the playoffs for the third consecutive season. Newton leaves behind a great legacy here at RMU.
Daniel Killen: Pittsburgh (PA) only played one season with the Colonials but was a massive addition to the blueline. Killen played in every game but one this season and tallied his first and only RMU goal vs the Duquesne Dukes. Daniel was a defensive defenseman with a great hockey IQ that was a key piece in Jack Jones's absence. The defender finished the year with 4 points.
Jack Jones: Carnegie (PA) started his RMU career in the 2021-22 season with the d3 Colonials. After some time away, Jones returned to the ice in 2023-24 and exploded for 8 assists, 2nd highest among RMU defenseman. Jones was named an assistant captain for his senior season but was ultimately cut short after 7 games. Jones stayed with the team and served as a player coach alongside Coach Riffner and Luff. His presence was a key part of the RMU playoff run and being a strong vocal leader for his squad.
Jeremiah Brosovic: McDonald (PA) alum spent four seasons with the d3 Colonials. When you talk about one of the best 1-2 punches in RMU goaltending history you look at these next two players. Brosovic came back this year after a season ending surgery that cut his 2023-24 campaign short. The netminder made 9 starts, winning 4 of them including a 2-0 shutout win over Kent State for the first of his career. Brosovic's best performance came in round 1 of this year's playoffs, being the backbone of a 2-1 triple overtime win over Kent State stopping 55/56 shots that came his way. Brosovic's career numbers have him around a 3.80 GAA and a .890SV%. One of the best netminders RMU has ever seen leaves some big shoes to fill.
Jacob "Gunnar" Fulton: Franklin Regional (PA) alum was the counterpart to Brosovic that made one of the best goalie duos in the CHE over the past two seasons. Fulton exploded this year winning 6 games for the Colonials holding a 3.09 GAA and a .917SV% which both finished in the top 3 of the conference. Fulton had multiple heroic efforts throughout his career including the upset win over St.Vincent earlier this year. The young netminder has had many 40+ save performances that helped push his team to the playoffs the last three seasons. Like Brosovic, the shoes those two have left are near irreplaceable.
Nate Barr: Asheboro (NC) native joined the team in the 2021-22 season and was a huge part of the team that didn't have much scoring expertise. Barr is a great two-way center and plays massive parts on both the power play and penalty kill. He finished last season with 1 goal and 6 points. For his final season, Barr was named team captain and saw an offensive explosion putting up career-high numbers in all major categories netting 9 goals and 16 points including 4 power play goals.
Owen McFarland: Frederick (MD) native spent all four seasons with RMU. McFarland a fan favorite that also had the travelling crowd with him at all times and would erupt anytime he would find the back of the net. The Sports Communication major tallied his final goal this season and leaves a two time CHE champion.
Kris Connelly: Pittsburgh (PA) native started his career with the d3 Colonials before transitioning to the d4 team. Connelly did an even split of two years on each team and saw time at both forward and defense. Connelly saw an offensive explosion in 2023-24 netting 6 goals and 12 points earning his first CHE title. His senior year, he tallied 3 goals and 7 points as he was asked for a more rounded game to which he excelled. A great two way center for the Colonials that will be hard to replace.
Zack Page: Johnstown (PA) native spent all four of his collegiate career manning the blueline for the d4 Colonials. Page was known as a physical presence that was not afraid to throw his weight around. He was feared anytime he wound up for a slapshot due to the power he put behind it. Page netted his final goal this season and showed up to every game in his signature cowboy hat attire. Page leaves RMU as a two-time champion.
Braidon Wolfe: Kittanning (PA) native has been on the D4 team the past four seasons as a defensive defenseman who can throw his weight around. Last year he tallied his first career goal on the power play vs Cal U. "Wolfie" is a two-time CHE D4 champion and will also be known for hitting a Cal U player through the Zamboni doors during his sophomore year's championship game. In his final season, Wolfe tallied one final goal to cap off his historic career.
Brock Mroczka: Johnstown (PA) native finished his third season with the Colonials. Mroczka had a historic 2023-24 campaign including his first career goal in a win over Duquesne (D3). He had a 7-1 record, a 2.86 goals against average and a .922 save percentage helped lead the Colonials to their second straight championship. This season Mroczka remained the starter and led his team back to the championship rocking a 6-5 record with a 3.21GAA and a 918 save percentage. Mroczka has been a backbone for the Colonials for quite some time and will be a tough act to follow.
Keegan Mackey: Arnold (MD) native spent time as both a player, a student coach, and equipment manager during his four years at RMU. Mackey was the "EQ" for the d1 club hockey team as his older brother Kevin was on the team. During that time he also played for the d4 club team seeing time as a goaltender and momentarily a forward. During his junior season, Mackey made his coaching debut for d4 RMU helping them get back to the CHE championship. For his senior season he split time with Andrew Kiehl in a senior night victory over Cal U to cap off his hockey career.
Andrew Kiehl: Plum (PA) alum who spent all four of his collegiate years with the d4 squad. Kiehl made his first appearance during his freshman season in relief for Wooster's goaltender as well in a loss vs Allegheny. Kiehl finally made his long-awaited first career start versus Cal U where he collected his first career win. The netminder made his final start on his senior night where he split with Keegan Mackey allowing 1 goal and stopping 13 shots. Andrew also made his impact in the broadcast booth calling games for his team as well as the rest of club hockey.
From all of us here at the Club Sports Media Team, we wish these 22 players nothing but the best in their future endeavors and thank them for all they have done for the growing Robert Morris University club hockey team!
