RMU ACHA D3 Defeats WVU in Thrilling Home Victory  

Clearview Arena – February 15, 2025, RMU ACHA D3 rebounded from their previous loss to WVU with an impressive 5-3 victory on Saturday afternoon at Clearview Arena. In an action-packed game, the Colonials showcased their resilience and offensive firepower, earning a hard-fought win on home ice. 

The Colonials in the first period wasted no time, striking 22 seconds into the game when #17 John Betz found the back of the net, assisted by #21 Zachary Blevins and #22 Luke Rose. WVU responded at 14:47, tying the game 1-1 by the end of the first period. 

The second period was full of drama, with RMU having a scoring chance waved off early. However, the Colonials bounced back when #11 Noah Long fired a shot from the point at 12:58, scoring his first career goal, assisted by #7 Jackson Vukman and #13 Wade Daniels, regaining the lead. Just 22 seconds later, the same line struck again, with #7 Vukman scoring on a tap in goal, assisted by #13 Wade Daniels, giving RMU a 3-1 advantage. WVU responded with two quick goals at 5:30 and 5:00, tying the game 3-3. Refusing to back down, #22 Luke Rose scored with 1:10 left in the period, putting RMU ahead 4-3 heading into the third. 

In the final period, #17 John Betz notched his second goal of the game at 1:19, assisted by #21 Blevins and #19 Tepsic, extending the lead to 5-3. The Colonials' defense, backed by solid goaltending from #29 Gunner Fulton, held firm, securing the victory. 

With this victory, RMU avenged their previous loss to WVU and celebrated a well-deserved win on home ice. The Colonials showcased their determination and teamwork, setting the tone for the rest of the season. RMU will look to carry this momentum forward as they continue their journey towards the playoffs. After 3 periods, 5-3 RMU win. The Colonials returned after their last loss to WVU and gave them a victory on the Colonial's home ice.

RMU ACHA D4 Closes Regular Season with 5-3 Victory Over Cal U 

Rostraver Ice Gardens (cfsBank Event Center)– February 15, 2025. The RMU ACHA D4 men's hockey team finished off their regular season with a 5-3 victory over Cal U at the Rostraver Ice Gardens, now known as the cfsBank Event Center. In a game filled with physical play and intense rivalries, the Colonials showcased their strength and scoring power, responding to Cal U's aggression with goals on the scoreboard. 

The game was competitive from the start, with both teams delivering punishing hits and fighting for every possession. The physicality escalated as Cal U retaliated against RMU's dominant play, leading to multiple altercations. The Colonials continued to maintain their focus and answered by finding the back of the net. The Colonials' balance of offensive play and strong passing allowed them to break Cal U's defense. Their ability to work on the powerplay opportunities and maintain offensive pressure helped them secure the win. 

Colonials Scoring Summary: 5-3 RMU 

With this hard-fought victory, RMU ACHA D4 wraps up their regular season on a high note. The Colonials now set on the upcoming championship game. Their physicality, depth in scoring, and unwavering determination make them a formidable contender for the title. 

RMU ACHA D1 Celebrates Senior Night with Exciting Skills Competition 

RMU Island Sports Center, Moon Township – February 16, 2025. In a twist of events, the RMU ACHA D1 men's hockey team turned a canceled game into a memorable Senior Night celebration with a Skills Competition at the RMU Island Sports Center. Despite the unexpected cancelation, the Colonials showcased their talents and honored their graduating seniors in front of a supportive home crowd. 

Before the competition began, RMU hosted their senior night, recognizing their hard work, leadership, and dedication to the program.Each senior was honored with their own special ceremony, surrounded by family, friends, teammates, and coaches. The Colonials reflected on their impact on and off the ice, celebrating their contributions to RMU Hockey.  

The following seniors were celebrated: 

  • #24 Rob Byrne 

The evening also featured recognition from RMU ACHA D1 men's alumni helped pave the way for the program's success. The competition brought out the competitive spirit of the Colonials, while also highlighting the fun within the team. Following the Senior Night ceremony, the team entertained the crowd with a Skills Competition:  

  • Fastest Skater: Players showcased their speed 

  • Hardest Shot: Testing the power behind their slapshots 

  • Accuracy Shooting: Players aimed to hit targets in the corners of the net 

  • Breakaway Challenge: Players demonstrated creativity with shootout moves 

While the cancelation of the game was unexpected, RMU turned the situation into a night to remember, celebrating their seniors. The Colonials now look forward to finishing off the season and to preparing for the playoffs.
