RMU ACHA Division I Shuts Out RIT, 3–0, on the Road

The Robert Morris University ACHA Division I men's hockey team opened the weekend with a 3–0 victory over RIT on Friday evening at the Canandaigua Civic Center. The Colonials had early offensive pressure and steady defensive play to secure the shutout win. Less than a minute into the opening period, forward Devin Rohrich (#19) buried a shot from the hashmarks to give the Colonials an early 1–0 lead. The quick strike set the tone for a game controlled by RMU.
After a scoreless second period highlighted by defensive work and strong goaltending, the Colonials broke through again late in the third. Corbin Ragno (#14)battled in front of the net and slipped the puck past the RIT goaltender at 16:13 to extend the lead to two. Just a few minutes later, Connor Evans (#13) sealed the victory, beating a defenseman one-on-one before finishing to make it 3–0. RMU's defense held firm throughout, keeping RIT's offense quiet and helping secure the clean win.

Behind a hat trick performance from Devin Rohrich (#19) and another strong defensive showing, the Colonials completed the weekend sweep and extended their win streak to four. RMU struck early once again, with Rohrich tipping a shot in front just 29 seconds into the first period to give the Colonials a lead. RIT answered midway through the frame, capitalizing on a power play to even the score at 1–1.
The second period belonged to Rohrich, who took over the game with two goals. With just one second left before the buzzer, he reached out to redirect a pass into the net for RMU. Minutes later, he completed the hat trick with a smooth backhand finish from the slot, extending the Colonials' advantage to 3–1. In the final minute of play, Zachary Blevins (#8) sealed the win with an empty-net goal, securing a 4–1 final. The game also marked a special milestone for veteran Andrew Finnegan (#4), who skated in his 100th career game as a Colonial.

Spriegel Nets First Career Goal as RMU ACHA Division III Tops Central Michigan, 3–1

The Robert Morris University ACHA Division III men's hockey team opened its weekend series with a 3–1 victory over Central Michigan on Friday night at the Island Sports Center's Olympic Ice Arena. The Colonials had many early scoring chances and maintained steady defensive pressure to earn the home win. RMU struck first just 67 seconds into the game when Nathan Spriegel (#21) scored his first career goal, assisted by Wade Daniels (#13). The rookie's quick finish gave the Colonials an early boost and set the tone for the night. Later in the opening period, Daniels added to the lead with a sharp, unassisted back-bar snipe at 1:15. The goal marked his third straight game with a tally and his fourth of the season, giving him two points on the night.
Central Michigan battled back in the third period, converting a shorthanded opportunity at 8:15 to cut the lead to 2–1. However, RMU responded quickly. Just 13 seconds later, Ryan Riffner (#24) restored the two-goal cushion after collecting a rebound from a pass off the pads by Alex Cassivi (#10). The goal was Riffner's eighth of the season, matching his total from last year's D4 season. Goaltender Brice Morozka (#2) was solid in the net, holding off late pressure from CMU to secure the victory. The matchup grew increasingly physical as time wound down, setting the stage for a heated rematch.

Despite the score, the Colonials showed resilience, creativity, and flashes of strong hockey IQ in a physical and fast-paced matchup. Central Michigan took control early, scoring twice in the first period on well-executed deflections in front of the net. The Chippewas extended their lead in the second with another redirect, showcasing an effective net-front presence that tested RMU throughout the contest.
In the third period, CMU added one more at 11:47, walking the puck around the defense for the fourth and final goal of the game. RMU goaltender Luke Zucowski (#1) made several key saves to keep the Colonials within reach, especially during stretches of heavy offensive pressure. Despite the loss, RMU continued to demonstrate smart positioning and effort. The matchup was briefly paused due to injuries on the ice, but resumed with intensity as both teams battled to the final buzzer.
The weekend split mirrored the programs' last meeting in 2019, with each side earning a win in the two-game set.

RMU ACHA Division IV Battles Past Penn State Altoona, 4–3, for Road Victory

The Robert Morris University ACHA Division 4 men's hockey team came out on top in a back-and-forth matchup Saturday afternoon, earning a 4–3 win over Penn State Altoona at Galactic Ice Arena. The victory marked the first career win for goaltender Nathan MacBride (#35), who turned aside 34 shots in a strong performance between the pipes. RMU matched Penn State Altoona's intensity from the start. After the Lions opened the scoring midway through the first period, Owen Romano (#15) responded less than a minute later with an unassisted goal to tie the game. PSU regained the lead at the five-minute mark, but RMU's energy continued to build.
The Colonials took control in the second period, fueled by Nick Miles (#20), who scored twice in three minutes by capitalizing on rebounds in front of the net. RMU outshot Altoona 23–9 in the frame, showing their offensive rhythm and persistence around the crease. In the third, Zack Connelly (#4) fired a shot through traffic at 17:03 that found its way in — a go-ahead goal that stood as the game-winner. Penn State Altoona added one more late, but RMU's defense held strong to close out the road win. Both teams battled through a physical contest that featured several altercations and extended penalty-kill sequences on each side. Despite the challenges, the Colonials' composure and depth proved decisive.
