RMU Men’s D4 Dominates in 10-0 Home Opener Shutout Against Cal U

Robert Morris University's Division 4 men's hockey team came out firing in their home opener, overwhelming Cal U in a 10-0 victory at the Clearview Arena. From the first puck drop, RMU controlled the place, playing physically and flooding the net with shots. 

First Period: 

RMU wasted no time taking control of the game. At 13:38, #15 Owen Romano broke through Cal U's defense, scoring an unassisted goal to open the game. Minutes later, #25 Julian Drass, assisted by #8 John Wayne Kravitz, buried another at 4:33, giving RMU a 2-0 lead heading into intermission. The Colonials outshot Cal U, putting 26 shots on their goalie in the first, showing strong offensive pressure for the game. 

Second Period: 

The second period was all RMU as the Colonials had five unanswered goals, pushing the lead to 7-0. At 19:03, #8 John Wayne Kravitz, found the back of the net with help from #27 Carter Bossong and #21 Chase Dawkin. #15 Owen Romano continued to score, striking at 18:30 off a feed from #10 Zeis-Miller. Just two minutes later, #3 Kristopher Connelly added to the score, assisted by #17 Joseph Pulleo. Romano completed the hat trick at 10:25, assisted by #11 Dominic Bucci and #23 William Shaver. Then, #10 Elijah Zeis-Miller scored a shorthanded goal at 8:21, catching the goalie out of position, assisted by #20 Nicholas Miles. Following that goal, both teams made goaltending changes, bringing in #35 Nathan MacBride and relieving the starter, #1 James Capell. RMU outshot Cal U again, 18-13. 

Third Period: 

Even with a running clock, RMU didn't let up on Cal U. At 12:51, #18 Timothy Williams scored with an assist from #14 Tullio DiDomenico and #2 Connor Borsh. #21 Chase Dawkin scored next, assisted by #26 Julian Drass, making it 9-0 at 7:36. With just 23 seconds left, #17 Connor Rensel sealed the 10-0 shutout, assisted by #18 Timothy Williams and #14 Tullio DiDomenico. RMU outshot Cal U 20-4 in the final period. 

Final Score: RMU 10-Cal U 0

It was a strong first win for the Colonials, using their speed, precision, and relentless pressure. Both RMU goalies combined for a shutout and an all-around team effort. RMU dominated in shots, ending the game with 64 shots compared to CalU's 20 shots. The Colonials look to carry this momentum into their next matchup as they continue to build their identity as a powerhouse in ACHA Division 4 hockey.
