MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. - RMUCB wins the 2024 Almost Heaven Shootout in convincing fashion. The Colonials started the tournament with a win against Mid Atlantic - West Conference opponent, the University of Pittsburgh Panthers. RMU got off to a bit of a slow start in the first half against the Panthers, but ran away with it in the end winning 79-56. A match-up with Bowling Green followed, in which the Colonials won by a margin of 50 points with a score of 104-54. The single elimination bracket kicked off with a duel against the University of Ohio. Defense was at an all time high as RMU held the Bobcats to 11 points at the half. Coming out of the half, the Colonials continued to run away with the game as it ended 67-29. 

Finally, the match-up was set to take on the reigning NCBBA National Champions, and the current number one ranked team in the nation, the James Madison Dukes. Again, the Robert Morris defense came out the gate with statement. The high powered JMU offense was held to 11 points at the half. RMU paired a great defensive performance with an impressive offensive one for the full 40 minutes. RMUCB knocked off the top ranked Dukes 57-38 as they moved to capture the Almost Heaven Shootout championship. 

Coach Williams on the win... "I'm so proud of this team. The season is so young, and for the guys to come out, compete, and show the elite level we are at makes us so eager to see who we can be come March. We believe that we have another level that we can reach. This group is so hungry and ready to work to get there. This championship is just early proof that the work is indeed paying off."

RMU D1 Men's Club Basketball now moves into the NCAA and higher level portion of their schedule as they have their sights set to host Bryant & Stratton Ohio (USCAA) in their home opener at the North Athletic Complex on October 19th at 4PM.
