Moon, PA- The RMU Esports program partnered with Baldwin High School this summer to put on a kickoff Rocket League tournament as BWHS looks to evaluate their RL talent when the team makes its inaugural appearance in the fall. In an effort to help esports at the high school level, RMU helped organize a tournament for Baldwin players to showcase their skills. The event took place over two days, with the opening rounds taking place on the afternoon of Friday, June 10th.The final 3 teams along with their friends and family were invited to the LAN finals at RMU's Esports center.

The tournament featured over 40 student competitors, ranging anywhere from rising 8th graders to rising seniors. Players ranged from those who had quite a bit of experience with the game to those just starting out in their esports journey.

For all parties involved, it was considered a massive success. For the Baldwin students, it was an opportunity to compete in an esports tournament that included a LAN finals. As well as an opportunity to play the game they love in front of friends and family. For Baldwin as a school, it was an opportunity to see what talent lived in the school district and was a prime showcase of what the future could hold for the newly forming Baldwin esports program. And for RMU Esports, the tournament signified them becoming tighter knit with the Western PA esports community, and making connections that'll hopefully continue well into the future.
