State College, PA- The Women's Bowling team placed 2nd this weekend at the Penn State Classic, their highest finish of the season. It was a smaller field, as only 3 women's teams entered the event, but the Colonials performed well to place ahead of the Rochester Institute of Technology. The other school in the field, Mount St. Mary's ended up finishing in first place.
The team looked strong all tournament, particularly during the team games on the first day. Game 1 led off with a 798 total pin count, led by Tatiana Johnson's 191. Madison Ferringer led the Colonials with a 176 in a 768 total in game 2. Cameron Nickel shot a 188 and Danielle Long a 183 in Game 3 in what ended up as an 820 total.
Game 4 was the highest set for the team, throwing an 860. Danielle Long's 209 paced the team in Game 4, with Tatiana Johnson's 193 and Cammy Nickel's 190 helping elevate the score. Game 5 was a misstep for the team as they only threw a 694. The final game was a 750 to round out the team game portion of the event.
The team was in second place for much of the event, maintaining a solid lead over RIT for much of the weekend. However, they never were really able to close the gap to Mount St. Mary's. The baker games proved inconsequential for the final results, and the standings order never changed through the 20 baker games. The Women's bowling team is in action next this upcoming weekend at the Raider Classic hosted by Wright State.
