Pittsburgh, PA- The Women's Volleyball team headed downtown this weekend to take on the a number of schools in the region at a tournament hosted by the University of Pittsburgh. 12 schools were at the tournament, split into 3 pools. RMU was in a pool with Pitt A, Penn State B, and Akron. First up was the pool play match against Penn State. The Colonials were dangerously close to picking up the win, but just were not able to seal the deal. RMU dropped both sets, but the scores were incredibly close as they finished 19-25 and 23-25. The second match was against Pitt, and the Colonials played them close but weren't able to pick up the victory here either. The sets finished 19-25 and 18-25.  The final pool play round was against Akron, and it was here Robert Morris got their first set win of the day. The Colonials split the sets with the Zips. Akron won the first 18-25, but the Colonials rebounded and won the second 25-19.

The pool play got RMU to seed 3rd in the Silver bracket. Their first round opponent was the Pitt Alumni team, and Robert Morris won via forfeit.  They advanced to the Silver Bracket Semifinals where they would take on a new challenge in George Mason University. Once again sticking to the theme of the afternoon, the Colonials were in it throughout the sets but just could not bring home the victory. George Mason won the sets to advance to the bracket finals, but it was back and forth throughout both games. RMU lost the sets 20-25 and 24-26, ending their day in the semifinals.

While the team's results were not ideal, the team performed well in each match it played in. The team scored at least 18+ points in each game it participated in and scored 20+ in half of them. The team will next be in action on November 9th, when they host a tournament here at RMU's Rec Center.
